Blinded by the LIGHT!

Sunshine State pic conundrum!  Stand in the dark and open my eyes or take all pics in the sun and squint like crazy (or wear sunnies)???
I can't open 'em I tell ya'!
Dress is vintage thrifted.
Boots thrifted men's vintage shown here.
The Necklace.
Belt is Plato's Closet consignment store.

I really love late 70s/early 80s versions of the day dress and secretary dress.  They have color and flare and are usually easy to wear for most figures and are fun to accessorize.  I didn't quite feel 100% about how I styled this one, but figure, 'Hey, I'll do it different next time'

  3. I'm with you, Becky, I have a real liking for those late 70s-early 80s dresses, especially rocked up with some boots and cool accessories as you have done here. It's a fab frock, love the sleeves, and the shape really suits you.
I can't imagine ever squinting in the sun again, it's dull, grey and drizzling here! xxxx

  4. I fecking LOVE that frock, and have a weakness for such frockage myself!
    You look yumcious!
Ha, I loathe sun in my eyes, hence sunnies in pretty much every outside shot you see of me!

  6. Yay for sunshine! Cute dress, and I really like it with the boots which kinda kicks the "secretary" out of it.

  8. You never know until you try something out, and I think this works with the belt and boots! I must remember to look at men's boots when I go thrifting. Good thinking!

  10. I think I had a dress like that the first time they came around in the early '80s. Love the colour and your pendant. And the men's boots are crazy great.

  11. I love that dress, it reminds me of something that my mother used to wear when I was little, now I need to have a rummage in her closet to find something similar, I love it with the boots!

  12. I love that dress, you look so trim and sweet in it and I think you've styled it fabulously!
I wish we had the same problem with sunshine and the need to squint, I've forgotten what it looks like! xxx

  13. I have a soft spot for puff sleeves, so that dress is perfection to me.
You look gorgeous in the sun.

  14. I like your styling ... always appealing to see thoughtful choices! The orange and the blue are great. The saturation levels of the tan boots and cools of the dress make them work automatically. You did good and look sweet and smart!

  17. Find a good spot in the shade - full sun not only makes you squint, it also gives harsh, unflattering shadows. The frock is lovely and fits you perfectly!

  19. Ok, how did you just make a dress I would have described as late 70's secretary look super cool and indie? I love the color on you, and I love how carelessly you wear it- as in oh, I just woke up suuuuper adorable, and I don't need to do my hair, or brush my teef, or wear a belt, and look, I am still waaaay cuter than everybody else.

Sun....yum. Send some my way, won't you?

  21. The Florida sun is strong and hard on my vision so I have to wear sunglasses everywhere I go.
Really like how you accessorize the dress and where did you get that bracelet?

  23. I have the very same problem, I'd go with the sunnies personally or try a hat to shade your eyes. I hate having my photo taken when my eyes are mere slits and my face contorted from squinting. Sometimes just bright daylight has the same effect and people go "why are you wearing sunglasses it's not even sunny, are you hungover?" N'ah I've just got really light sensitive eyes...I'd rather wear sunnies than make the already deep wrinkle in-between my eyes any deeper, if people think I'm odd or a wannabe Bono, that's OK :)

  24. I forgot to comment on your wonderful frock, d'oh!
I love the 80s and secretary dresses are brill. I love the colour and the cute puffyness to the shoulders and you've made it look very up to date by teaming it that fab belt and you still manage to look lovely despite being blinded by light :)

  26. Be my, I love how you've made a vintage dress even funkier with your tribal-esque accessories. The Necklace looks amazing (is this a different one that I was grooving on a few weeks ago? I think a close-up is in order!), as does the belt and booties. Yay for sunshine! /Kelly xo
