Mt. Dora

Soooooo, my husband and I, the X-man, don't celebrate any holidays.  Buttttttt, we do join in festivities with friends and family that are often very holiday related and who do celebrate.

Hence, the trip to Mt. Dora with my mom, brother, sister in law, and the kiddies.
It's a fun little old fashioned town filled to the brim with vintage and antique shops, restaurants, and other fun little stuff.

Pic heavy!

Downside...  Things were pricey!  See the button here about dept. store prices?  Irony!

Loving this chair!

Kids (and adults)went crazy in this toy store :)

The pretty lake you can walk to by the town.

Sign on the restaurant door.  Made me laugh.

Ten minutes out of Mt. Dora there is an old steam engine train that is in working condition and takes you 'Polar Express' style rides with carolling, Santa, elves, hot cocoa, cookies...

Girl London and Baby Dream in their new jammies that their Uncle Dick and Tia Cha Cha bought them!

Santa!  lolzzzzzz

I kid you not, Santa tried to stare down my dress!!!!  He tried to disguise it as asking about my necklace!  Now I know where all the HOE HOE HOE business comes from!

There were also cute teenage carollers and some elves that actually scared me a little.

But, the whole day was loads of fun!

The overlooked classic print: Camo

It doesn't get the mad play that plaid and polka dots get because it's a bit newer, but really, I do believe it has worked it's way into being a serious print staple.  I know I've loved it long time.

Here's a little tbt for you, 7th grade school pic circa 1988:

Before I ever plucked an eyebrow (I wish I'd never started!) and before everyone had a cell phone with a camera (this is the only pic I have of me wearing this jacket that I used to wear literally every day forever)...

I wore a little braid in my hair on the right for the entire year!  lolzzzz

Anyway, every time I run across a sweet little camo like this listed here

I always hold onto it a while, thinking it may have to be mine.
I'm letting this one go, but I will eventually get another one.  And cover it with patches and shit.

For the record, I'd like to state that I can't stand fuckin' school pictures.  They are so awkward!  Ugh!  I prefer candid shots just in general.  I want to see a real expression dammit!  But, like I said, I don't have a ZILLION pics from way back to get all choosy about.

Hola Amigas

I've been a bum ass blogger and took an extended break.  It's because I'm such a slacker I can only concentrate on like, 2 things at a time.  Plus, I'm going to be honest...  I've been friending/following/stalking some of yous guise on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook and I LOVE it.

Anyway.  Some shit that's going on.

1.  I've sort of gained weight and sized out of most (all) of my awesome clothes.  Sooooo, no good fashion pics right this sec.

2.  I closed my booth down, but not my online store.  This was a split decision.  Put so much heart, soul, and $$$ into it, but when it hit me that it wasn't making $, and worse, NOT going to become the ultimate vision I signed on for...  Well, I marched right in the morning I decided and gave notice.

3.  Motherfucking planned the already scheduled art show that I was hosting at a sweet new venue Stained Market Place.  It's a warehouse run by two badass chicks who are doing things right.  Big time supporters of local art (and in particular up-cycled art!) and giving back to their community.  They are so down!  It was AWESOME!!!!!  All the pics are here.  But, I'll add one or two to talk about:

This girl here is Lizzie, a friend my husband and I have know since high school.  She is an amazing artist. Her Etsy shop is LizzieBones if you want to show her some love, although she doesn't have everything listed.
Love her so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, an up-cycled aluminium can Dia de los Muertos piece:

This one of Lizzie's up-cycled  hand painted statues came home with me!!

Also, Xavier's talented brother who goes by the name Apex.  He has a website here

The one on the far right came home with us!  Most of these ink sketches sold fast!

We also had a friend who I have known since the 6th grade (lolzzz) come and DJ.
DJ PJ made the night so chill with the vibe he created with his music.
Music just takes things to that NEXT LEVEL.

You can see more about him on his website TokMusic.

There were more artists and artwork and, but, like I said I am a little lazy and I've already written about, posted pics, and links on Facebook

I will be catching up with more soon!!!!!!   Can't wait to read some blogs!!!

The Holy Grail

So, I think we all know that the Holy Grail of shoes is one that looks amazing and is super comfortable.    Everyone probably knows by now that I am a mom of two.  Part of what makes me long for super comfy shoes (other than the fact that I'm getting older and my feet hurt dang it!) is that we often spend long fun days at place like Disney World and Busch Gardens (we have annual passes).
I usually say no to ad or sponsorship offers.  Kind of embarrassed to admit that when Sole Provisions contacted me I was going to ignore it until I saw the Orthaheel brand.
My husband and my mom made fun of me to no end that I became excited at the 'ortha' part--- you see, I thought the might be orthopaedic and therefore comfy.

I picked sandals because I wear them constantly-----practically year round.  I'm serious.  I probably buy at least two pair of sandals a year that I literally wear out.
I picked these: The Orthaheel Mia Black

The soles of the shoe were marvellous!!!
The downside was they ran super big and so might feet were sort of rubbing on the straps.  I am going to give them to my mom to try because she is a size bigger.  The website said to size down if you were in between sizes, but it almost seemed like a whole size big for me.  I was kind of daft and wore them anyway---- I should of returned them for a smaller size!
After my mom tries them out I'll let everybody know what she thinks about them.  She was VERY interested in the Orthaheels herself after she stopped making fun of me for wanting comfy heels.

I'd also like to add that the Sole Provision customer service rep that contacted me was super sweet and thorough.  If this is any indication of how they handle their business then that is a big plus.  Prompt and thoughtful responses, prompt shipping...

Going to hook up to Bella's Shoe Shine since I have some shoes to talk about!!!!!

NYC

Been MIA a bit because, you know, summer!!  Kids are out of school and must be entertained!
We took a little family trip to NYC and stayed in Brooklyn for the first time and LOVED it.
This is the family at the Museum of Natural History in front of a meteor.

The wee ones in front of a big crystal.

Bit of a ham???  Every pic I tell you!

We also went to Central Park and the to show the kids Miss Liberty...

We just took the free Staten Island ferry and it gets quite close.  You can go to the deck or outside seats to look and then there are even more seats inside with a snack booth and everything.  I don't know why people pay so much $$$ for ferry rides that are essentially the same thing.

The X-man and I have been to the city 4x and we always stop the our old punk haunt the village and St. Marks.

Funny seeing him here with the kids now instead of hanging with gutter punks.
The place is really cleaned up in comparison to how it used to be.

Fun stores.

We rented an amazing apartment through Airbnb and had an amazing experience.  Highly recommend checking this site for travel accommodations.

I recently bought this floral crop top that I saw on another's blogger post.  It is cheap and from boohoo. It was on sale and I had a coupon code.  Didn't have anything high-waisted that fit comfy at the moment so I threw it on over a dress because I was so desperate to wear it!  It reminds me of one I had when I was young that is long gone :)

Purple Urple

All purple everything.
It's already fading and I've already redone it...  And it's already fading again!!  You get the idea.  Purple is hard to keep up!

Since dying my hair purple I've been wanting to wear purple.  Which gets a little weird.  I don't want to end up all Grape Ape and shiz.  But, I can't stop.

I also would like to say it is sometimes a bit much how many people want to comment on my hair.  Lots positive, but lots begging me to please dye it back to 'normal'.

Also, trying to figure out why my outside shots are blurry because my inside shots for clothes seem to be just fine!!  Ahhhhh, photography!  Blasted camera!  You making me mad!
Hooking up to Patti's Visible Monday because I'm feeling it :)
Hope everyone had a good Father's Day if you were celebrating.  The X-man had a good one.

A little too little.

This dress was part of a lot of clothes I bought from a friend of a friend.  It is a few sizes too small for me and yet, that is not really stopping me from squeezing in to it.

Kind of similar to the last dress in that it is sort of a pastel water-colorish floral print.  This dress is different in design because of its sleeveless low cut top and tulip effect skirt.

I am actually using the belt of the other dress with this one because this one's belt was missing.  I didn't like how any of my other belts looked with it and it needed one big time.

Going to hook up with Patti's Visible Monday then I'm off to check all your stylin' blogs :)

Water-color

This is a little vintage water-color style print that I'm kind of loving lately.  Now, you know my 'no long sleeve' rule, right?  There is actually a weird summer paradox to it.  Sometimes, in the summer particularly, if I know I have to be out and about for a while outside, I just wear long sleeves.  Heat be damned.  Better to be hot than burned to a crisp.

The hair is not actually blonde anymore...  It's lavender.  But, I am behind on work and new OOTD pictures are suffering :(

Wish these weren't blurry.  Hey, I tried.

I have all these pics, and none quite right.  So yeah, I just posted them all.

Linking up with Patti at Visible Monday 'cause it's been a while!
